Virtually attacked and abused by BDS

I have an Idea! let’s all bully the hell out of an artist so that he will do whatever we believe in, regardless of his own opinion!

I honestly believe that this is what goes through BDS followers’ minds when they go on an “operation stop a random artist from performing in Israel”.

Once again artists who are scheduled to perform in Israel are going through a virtual brutal and unrestrained attack which is basically just like holding a gun to their head forcing them to follow a belief who’s not theirs.

Operation stop Alanis Morissette from performing in the racist state of #Israel

This time, Alanis Morissette is the victim.
Morissette, a very loved artist in Israel since 1990’s, is due to play in Tel Aviv on December 3rd, and the show has been sold out for weeks now.
Well, everyone is pretty excited about it. That is, except the BDS movement activists who as usual are doing whatever they can to make Alanis either too scared or too confused to perform and by “whatever they can” I mean cursing, threatening, bullying and abusing her official Twitter and Facebook accounts:

“Deaf, dumb and blind” Sweet

Apparently Morissette isn’t a REAL artist.

So here is just another thought for you Alanis:
you are welcomed here in Israel.
By deciding to perform you will join artists like Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and roses,  Cirque du Soleil and many others who chose to stay loyal to their fans in face of threats.
Who separate arts from politics and truth from popular lies and misconceptions.
Who truly believe in peace.

Welcome.

In the age of Internet and social networks, it’s really easy to connect to your “inner activist”.
once you find your ’cause’ you will pretty much do anything to push it to the center of attention – And you have all the tools you’ll need to do so effectively and for zero money.
Now, let’s say your cause is ‘the people of Gaza‘, and recently things got hot again between Gaza and South Israel, rockets are being fired and military actions are taking place.
obviously now will be the right time to promote your cause. obviously…
but will you consider using a dead Syrian kid photo just to get the focus you need?

Some will.
Abo Kazem Saad, a Gazan FB user posted this photo a few days ago, followed with a difficult, human and honest text about the people of Gaza. Naturally the photo got hundreds of shares.
Thing is, the dead kid has nothing to do with Gaza.

A brief research will easily show that the photo was taken in Syria, the two year-old kid was killed by the Syrian armed forces and has apparently never been to Gaza.

My thought: If you need to lie about your cause to get attention, there may be a problem- Either with you or with the definition of your cause…

“The show must go on” was probably the most repeated sentence young BatSheva Ensemble dancers have heard in the last months. Protesters interrupt the their show in Edinburgh several times last week, but the dancers kept on dancing….

“The company is supported by the state since 1965 when it was formed. It is supported by the idea that money has to go back to art. That is why we get money”. said Ohad Nahrin, BatSheva’s creative director, following the show at the debate session, regarding to  BDS activists accusations that BatSheva is financed by Israeli government.
Naharin had also shared his solidarity with Palestinian cause but fully opposed disruption the show.

Critics and viewers enjoy the show which did not stopped even once due to the protesters, and finally got their 5 stars review .

The BatSheva Ensemble European tour is now taking place.
I could only suggest BDS activists to stop and think; Is your violent overaggressive attitude really working? or maybe you should consider a more peaceful and civilized way of protesting?

Support BatSheva Ensemble in Europe!

ARTISTS are usually passionate people who want to express their feelings, ideas and personalities on a stage.
Israeli ‘BatSheva’ dance ensemble have earned their invitations to the best stages Europe,
Not only are they highly acclaimed and have received great reviews, a quick glance on their website shows the ensemble to be truly multi-cultural with dancers from all over the world and, more relevantly a site in Hebrew, English and Arabic.

Meanwhile, the anti-Israel BDSers, protesters outside the theaters. they too use their “freedom of speech” And that is not necessarily a bad thing in itself.
I personally don’t agree with them but I do respect their right to be heard.

Will BDS protesters violently-destroy this upcoming BatSheva tour to Europe?

The Arab-Israeli conflict is anything but simple and what makes it more difficult to resolve is its portrayal in extremes of black and white. This polarization has led these protesters to dismiss their non-violent mantra, adding violence, hate, fear and intimidation to their arguments.

The line between legitimate non-violent protesting and vandalizing might not be so easy to nail down but there is one line that is very clear: the theater door.

The BDS protesters have crossed that threshold many times, bringing what might have been a legitimate protest inside, physically hijacking the hall for their protest.

The protesters-turned-vandals disrupt the shows repeatedly and are not arrested or even forcibly withdrawn from the hall leaving audience members “alarmed and vulnerable”.
They vandalize the rights of the BatSheva group members and their audience to enjoy an evening of art and culture, regardless of political or religious motives of people living thousands of miles away.
They search for a media spotlight, kidnapping the moment and the attention of the audience who definitely did not buy tickets to see these protesters’ “dance”.

It is therefore up to the theaters themselves to stand up to and stand by the reason they exist: the performance of art by artists to art lovers. They should have staff members to escort the “bullies” away to be fined the night’s tickets for ruining their evening.

Here is the International Schedule for BatSheva’s upcoming shows

Before watching the next video, all must be seated and take a moment to breathe in and out slowly.
you’re about to watch a real life insanity. now, push play.
CodePink is a group of anti war women activists who, by idea, has a beautiful world-peace agenda, if somewhat eclectic.
By practice, I would have to call them a bunch of girls seeking attention who’s long forgotten their values and would do anything to get a news headline anywhere.
It only takes one watch at the bridezillas video to make you wonder.
The way I understand it, these girls’ agenda and morals are simply not  strong enough  to reach crowd and attention;
or perhaps they’re insecure about them. Either way,  they appear to have had to turn to extreme measures.
and by extreme measures I mean making a complete fools of themselves trying to cause a provocation after realizing their point isn’t solid and can be argued very easily.

This last August CodePink showed up at the RNC Convention dressed up as huge Vaginas, claiming that’s what will make woman be proud to be females.
Well, News flash dear protesters, neither dressing up as brides or gigantic lady parts  will make me feel proud to be a female, my mind will do just fine and so will my mouth.
Real activists will have strong solid statements and will not have to use provocations or embarrass themselves so that they will be heard.
It’s always easier when someone else is doing your job for you, isn’t it?
last week while having one of my regular BDS online rounds I came across an image which wasn’t only disturbing to look at, it felt fishy and wasn’t put up together very well.
On Hamde Abu Rahma’s, a very talented and appreciated, though an extremist, Palestinian photographer  I found this:
I have written before about the comparison of Holocaust and the Israeli- Palestinian Conflict by BDS activist, but this one is preformed very poorly…
I served, like most Israeli adults, in the IDF. I was born and raised in Israel, and I have never, ever saw any national Campaign which  was even slightly similar to the girl on the left.
Ever heard of Dr. Steel?  I didn’t either, The guy is a unique-conceptual musician and performer who wears round an image of a doctor who intends to take over the world.
cool guy, with a very cool (and a very old- 2005) custom army called ‘Army of Toy Soldiers’, This army consists of three types of characters:  Toy Soldiers, Nurses, and Toy Scouts.
take a guess which one of the 3 is our star shown up.  RIGHT! she’s the Toy Scouts enlisting girl!

Photo taken from Dr Steel’s MySpace account

Now, you don’t think a BDSer will actually sit down for hours working his Photoshop and making the girl all Israeli, no, that is way too much work. Someone else has done it for him as well, the best they can do is changing the slogan on the bottom and putting two pictures side by side showing their regular method of lying and deceiving.

According to the Mizbala agency blog, a Jewish artist named Zeev Ben Yosef have made an Independent retro style  campaign, showing the IDF in a cool-creative-vintage atmosphere and put it up on his FB page. again, the project is made by a guy on his spare time and was NOT produced or used by Israel officially (or unofficially for that matter).
I tried to contact Zeev but he did not respond until now.

Will BDS activist ever learn that people are not stupid? we have heard of Google Images, we will do research, and we will not believe every outraging Image shown to us like the sheep  you  work to lead to false conclusions…

Tomorrow Tel Aviv will be occupied (Ha Ha) by thousands of Red Hot Chili Peppers fans!
A moment before that happens, Israeli DJ Noy Alooshe releases  a Mega-Mash-Up which unites some of the biggest international artists who preformed on Israeli stages recently,  in spite of BDS threats and harassments.
Rockn’Roll Baby!

Video includes:
Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chris Cornell, Morrissey, The Afghan Whigs, Rufus Wainwright, CIRQUE DU SOLEIL
