Virtually attacked and abused by BDS

I have an Idea! let’s all bully the hell out of an artist so that he will do whatever we believe in, regardless of his own opinion!

I honestly believe that this is what goes through BDS followers’ minds when they go on an “operation stop a random artist from performing in Israel”.

Once again artists who are scheduled to perform in Israel are going through a virtual brutal and unrestrained attack which is basically just like holding a gun to their head forcing them to follow a belief who’s not theirs.

Operation stop Alanis Morissette from performing in the racist state of #Israel

This time, Alanis Morissette is the victim.
Morissette, a very loved artist in Israel since 1990’s, is due to play in Tel Aviv on December 3rd, and the show has been sold out for weeks now.
Well, everyone is pretty excited about it. That is, except the BDS movement activists who as usual are doing whatever they can to make Alanis either too scared or too confused to perform and by “whatever they can” I mean cursing, threatening, bullying and abusing her official Twitter and Facebook accounts:

“Deaf, dumb and blind” Sweet

Apparently Morissette isn’t a REAL artist.

So here is just another thought for you Alanis:
you are welcomed here in Israel.
By deciding to perform you will join artists like Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and roses,  Cirque du Soleil and many others who chose to stay loyal to their fans in face of threats.
Who separate arts from politics and truth from popular lies and misconceptions.
Who truly believe in peace.

Welcome.

In the age of Internet and social networks, it’s really easy to connect to your “inner activist”.
once you find your ’cause’ you will pretty much do anything to push it to the center of attention – And you have all the tools you’ll need to do so effectively and for zero money.
Now, let’s say your cause is ‘the people of Gaza‘, and recently things got hot again between Gaza and South Israel, rockets are being fired and military actions are taking place.
obviously now will be the right time to promote your cause. obviously…
but will you consider using a dead Syrian kid photo just to get the focus you need?

Some will.
Abo Kazem Saad, a Gazan FB user posted this photo a few days ago, followed with a difficult, human and honest text about the people of Gaza. Naturally the photo got hundreds of shares.
Thing is, the dead kid has nothing to do with Gaza.

A brief research will easily show that the photo was taken in Syria, the two year-old kid was killed by the Syrian armed forces and has apparently never been to Gaza.

My thought: If you need to lie about your cause to get attention, there may be a problem- Either with you or with the definition of your cause…

Not an Anti-Semitic (?)

“Israel is the cancer in foreign affairs. It polarizes the Islamic community of the world against the rest of the world”

Imagine that been said with a heavy Irish exigent on TV prime time, and this wasn’t it;

“Unless you deal with the problem of Israel and the Palestinians in that part of the world, there’s going to be conflict and disharmony. It’s a massive injustice – they stole the land from the Arabs.”

Last week, while Irish TV3 broadcaster Vincent Browne was talking about the second US presidential debate, he found the word Cancer appropriate to describe Israel, and as if that wasn’t enough, he finally determined that the land of Israel was stolen from the Arabs.

Anti-Israel-left -wing anchormen and reporters are not uncommon in the world wide media, but when a TV broadcaster is out with an anti-Semitic statement, refuses to apologize and is not being condemned by any major media entities, that is SCARY!

Is Mr Browne the dread of Irish media? or do his colleagues feel it is legitimate to refer to a whole nation as cancer?
since all major newspapers, TV and radio shows in Ireland almost completely ignored the Incident I would just have to assume Antisemitism is now an official Irish media agenda…

Feel like letting Vincent Browne know what do you think of remarks? Tweet of Facebook him!

It’s always easier when someone else is doing your job for you, isn’t it?
last week while having one of my regular BDS online rounds I came across an image which wasn’t only disturbing to look at, it felt fishy and wasn’t put up together very well.
On Hamde Abu Rahma’s, a very talented and appreciated, though an extremist, Palestinian photographer  I found this:
I have written before about the comparison of Holocaust and the Israeli- Palestinian Conflict by BDS activist, but this one is preformed very poorly…
I served, like most Israeli adults, in the IDF. I was born and raised in Israel, and I have never, ever saw any national Campaign which  was even slightly similar to the girl on the left.
Ever heard of Dr. Steel?  I didn’t either, The guy is a unique-conceptual musician and performer who wears round an image of a doctor who intends to take over the world.
cool guy, with a very cool (and a very old- 2005) custom army called ‘Army of Toy Soldiers’, This army consists of three types of characters:  Toy Soldiers, Nurses, and Toy Scouts.
take a guess which one of the 3 is our star shown up.  RIGHT! she’s the Toy Scouts enlisting girl!

Photo taken from Dr Steel’s MySpace account

Now, you don’t think a BDSer will actually sit down for hours working his Photoshop and making the girl all Israeli, no, that is way too much work. Someone else has done it for him as well, the best they can do is changing the slogan on the bottom and putting two pictures side by side showing their regular method of lying and deceiving.

According to the Mizbala agency blog, a Jewish artist named Zeev Ben Yosef have made an Independent retro style  campaign, showing the IDF in a cool-creative-vintage atmosphere and put it up on his FB page. again, the project is made by a guy on his spare time and was NOT produced or used by Israel officially (or unofficially for that matter).
I tried to contact Zeev but he did not respond until now.

Will BDS activist ever learn that people are not stupid? we have heard of Google Images, we will do research, and we will not believe every outraging Image shown to us like the sheep  you  work to lead to false conclusions…

By now, we are all used to the creative lies spread by BDS leaders and other anti Israel activists. However, it seems that their students (the followers) have taken hate and lies one step further, a step too far.

While tweeting away this morning I was astounded to come across a dreadful hate-inciting Hash Tag #FuckIsrael.
I must say I’ve never seen this one before, Most of these #FuckIsrael tweets also include our friend’s Hash tag- #BDS.This repetitive phenomena shows that there is a direct connection between the twitterers of both Hash tags. It is important to note however, that from a quick look I could see that none of the BDS leaders use this new Hash tag, rather it seems to be their “creative” followers. A classy – students have surpassed their masters case.

Good neighborly

Funny…

Naturally, I also had a look for the heartwarming term ‘Fuck Israel’ on Facebook. The main FB page that turned up had nearly 27,000 likes! hardly a radical minority…

The pictures, posts and statuses on this page are disgusting to say the least and are profoundly antisemitic.

Like it Pleaseeeee!

Both on Twitter and Facebook the writers take part in cyber bullying; they hack websites, mass report users, spread hate and racial comments. And on top of this all they call for their actions to be “shared”, “liked” and “retweeted”.

RT racist Tweets

The repetitive direct connection between the Hash tags #BDS and #FuckIsrael undeniably shows that BDS activists are totally against Israel rather than pro Palestinian. I could not find any posts in which the words (or #) WeLovePalestine (Nor #PeaceInTheMiddleEast).

Indeed, A supreme education. BDS leader should be proud….

Following up my post from last week regarding Sir Patrick Stewart’s visit to Israel, I checked out he’s latest updates, and you know what- it seems like our Sir is doing ALRIGHT 🙂

Tali Shapiro presents herself as a long-time music fan painfully calling for her favorite bands to boycott Israel- But is she?

BDS activist Tali Shapiro has a new target – the Red Hot Chilly Peppers band, which announced a much anticipated concert in Israel this summer. But Shapiro does not adress the subject honestly’ as an activist with a very clear and agressive agenda (legitimate as such), but first of all as a fan.

She writes about herself in a so called “personal letter” to the band:
“I’ve been a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan since I was 14 years old. The prospect of a live show in Israel has always been slim-to-non. I saved up some serious cash for their last slated show, way back when, needless to say I was heartbroken when they cancelled…”

Only then does she turn to unfolding  her own political agenda, while all the time repeating her personal connection:

“I’m a long time fan and it’s no lip service. I grew up on your songs, like American Ghost Dance and Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky, but I wouldn’t understand them until much later, when I would join the weekly demonstrations of Palestinian villages”

Why is it then she’s not even the fan band’s fan ON FACEBOOK untill it’s time to call for divestment? A quick browse through her profile shows that she almost only likes Bands and artists who announced a concert in Israel, soon after the announcement, in order to fill their public pages with calls for boycott. This is a partial list of the artists Shapiro connected to on facebook in the last 3 months – All of them shortly after an announcement of a show in Israel was made.

So, are you a Red Hot Chilly Peppers fan since childhood – that is, last month? just the way you’re a Cassandra Wilson, Cat Power, Madonna, Afrojack and James Blake (All announced Israel concerts in 2012- some cancelled)? I suggest you Message her personal profile and ask!

I’m not saying don’t be political – I am saying,  be honest and don’t lie about yourself in order to establish empathy or whatever!

From the facebook profile page of Shapiro, Marked in red are artists Shapiro liked, who “happened” to announce concerts in Israel just in the last couple of months- At least 37 out of 50 Artists are ones that announced concerts in Israel!
