MUCH HAS BEEN written about the conflict in the Middle East but few people really understand the complexities of the situation.
There  is not one simple answer but somehow, in the world of politics and propaganda, simplifying is the name of the game.

In advertising, this is called the USPUnique Selling Proposition.
Advertisers understand that if you want to change a significant number of peoples’ behaviors fast, you should focus on one single USP, repeating it over, and over, and again, and again. It has to be short and catchy and it should be emotional.

Tagging Israel as an “apartheid state” is just such a USP that disregards the difference between the South African native population and the Palestinian population.
South Africa, under apartheid rule, was a country that was ruled by a minority to the detriment of the majority of its citizens.

The state of Israel is a democracy that is ruled by the majority of its citizens including the 1.6 million Israeli Arabs who enjoy full democratic rights.
Palestinians living in Gaza might want their plight to be seen as a result of Israel’s existence but it is in fact autonomous and self-ruled and therefore, logically, there is no sign of apartheid here either.
That leaves the Occupied Territories that are not legally a part of Israel but are under Israeli government.
It is 100% true that the Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories do not enjoy the civil rights that their brothers enjoy in Israel or in Gaza since they are neither Israelis nor are they Gazans.
These people are living on land that is disputed and for which no agreement has yet been reached between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
Of course, none the above can help the Palestinians to gain supporters to help their cause. Too much information, too complicated, too tiresome.

In advertising, this is called the USP

It is much easier to show pictures of hurt/dead babies (many of which are fake) or by calling for a boycott on Israel.
This is a simplistic message that is easily understood and easy to take to heart and this is the message that is calling for supporters of Palestine to bully artists and cultural figures out of performing for Israeli audiences.

The calls to boycott continue, supported by some genuine activists and a lot more gullible and naïve human rights supporters who get sucked in by a simplistic call to act without a good understanding of the complexities involved.

You want to unleash your power as a human rights activist?
Go ahead and do so. But before you do, get informed and distrust easy answers and solutions because this conflict is anything but easy.
Because if you don’t you might find yourself to be a Pawn in the grand scheme of the Palestinians who want to destroy the State of Israel not live alongside it.

Virtually attacked and abused by BDS

I have an Idea! let’s all bully the hell out of an artist so that he will do whatever we believe in, regardless of his own opinion!

I honestly believe that this is what goes through BDS followers’ minds when they go on an “operation stop a random artist from performing in Israel”.

Once again artists who are scheduled to perform in Israel are going through a virtual brutal and unrestrained attack which is basically just like holding a gun to their head forcing them to follow a belief who’s not theirs.

Operation stop Alanis Morissette from performing in the racist state of #Israel

This time, Alanis Morissette is the victim.
Morissette, a very loved artist in Israel since 1990’s, is due to play in Tel Aviv on December 3rd, and the show has been sold out for weeks now.
Well, everyone is pretty excited about it. That is, except the BDS movement activists who as usual are doing whatever they can to make Alanis either too scared or too confused to perform and by “whatever they can” I mean cursing, threatening, bullying and abusing her official Twitter and Facebook accounts:

“Deaf, dumb and blind” Sweet

Apparently Morissette isn’t a REAL artist.

So here is just another thought for you Alanis:
you are welcomed here in Israel.
By deciding to perform you will join artists like Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and roses,  Cirque du Soleil and many others who chose to stay loyal to their fans in face of threats.
Who separate arts from politics and truth from popular lies and misconceptions.
Who truly believe in peace.

Welcome.

During and following the ‘Pillar of Defense’ operation in Gaza, the international media had Israel in flames.  Ariel Zinger, an Israeli graphic designer made a new and more relevant version of his info graphic  comparing the Syrian war with Pillar of defense alongside with a simple question: Is Syrian citizens blood cheaper?

Introducing: world hypocrisy

How come there was so much international intervention in a mere 8 days of war while not half of the resources spent on High-profile Gaza, was dedicated to heavily distressed Syria?

Judging is easy when you’re not under attack.

Can you imagine having Thirteen percent of your country’s people under constant fire?
No.
You can’t.

Cross Post ‘My Country is Under Attack. Do You Care?’ by: Arsen Ostrovsky 10/24/2012

I’m angry that in 2012, over 600 rockets have already been fired from Gaza with no end in sight. I’m angry that the world only notices when Israel undertakes its (sovereign) right to defend its citizens. Can you imagine if even one rocket was fired on Washington, London, Paris or Moscow? No nation on earth can, or should, tolerate such attacks on its people.

I’m angry that while the United Nations never hesitates to call a ‘special emergency session’ on the ‘Question of Palestine’ or pass the umpteenth resolution blindly condemning Israel, that I am still waiting for a session on the ‘Question of Israel’ and Palestinian terror. In fact, 24 hours after the rocket attacks started, I am still waiting for even one syllable of condemnation from the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly or Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

I’m angry that there are those who continue to call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the Jewish State, but are silent in the face of Palestinian terror.

I’m angry that ships and flotillas continue to set sail for Gaza to show ‘solidarity’ with the Palestinians, but where is their solidarity with the people of southern Israel?

I’m angry that while human rights organizations like Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, Oxfam and others do not waste a single opportunity to condemn Israel for human rights violations against the Palestinians, the human rights of Israelis are seemingly not important enough for them. Is Jewish blood really that cheap?
I’m angry that mainstream newspapers like the New York Times, lead their stories about the rocket attacks with such headlines as “Four Palestinian Militants Killed in Israeli Airstrikes,” and not “Palestinian Terrorists Rain Down Over 80 Rockets against one million Israelis.”

I’m angry that there is someone out there who does not know me and has never met me, yet still wants to kill me — for no other reason than being Israeli.

I’m angry when I hear residents in southern Israel say “we just lie on top of our children and try to protect them with our bodies” or that “we’re living on borrowed time” — yet the world seems oblivious to their desperate cries for help.

No, I am not angry. I am outraged.

What happens when you take a little blonde and sweet-looking girl, dress her in “love” and “peace” shirts, and instruct her to to throw around over-dramatic crying and screaming?
you got it! An excellent, well-photographed News provocation!

IsraellyCool and Elder of Zion, two of my favorite bloggers, came up with this fantastic video showing how one little girl, with a proper guidance, can get so many news items by systematically provoking and teasing soldiers again and again for months – But only when there are rolling cameras around…

Not an Anti-Semitic (?)

“Israel is the cancer in foreign affairs. It polarizes the Islamic community of the world against the rest of the world”

Imagine that been said with a heavy Irish exigent on TV prime time, and this wasn’t it;

“Unless you deal with the problem of Israel and the Palestinians in that part of the world, there’s going to be conflict and disharmony. It’s a massive injustice – they stole the land from the Arabs.”

Last week, while Irish TV3 broadcaster Vincent Browne was talking about the second US presidential debate, he found the word Cancer appropriate to describe Israel, and as if that wasn’t enough, he finally determined that the land of Israel was stolen from the Arabs.

Anti-Israel-left -wing anchormen and reporters are not uncommon in the world wide media, but when a TV broadcaster is out with an anti-Semitic statement, refuses to apologize and is not being condemned by any major media entities, that is SCARY!

Is Mr Browne the dread of Irish media? or do his colleagues feel it is legitimate to refer to a whole nation as cancer?
since all major newspapers, TV and radio shows in Ireland almost completely ignored the Incident I would just have to assume Antisemitism is now an official Irish media agenda…

Feel like letting Vincent Browne know what do you think of remarks? Tweet of Facebook him!

Support BatSheva Ensemble in Europe!

ARTISTS are usually passionate people who want to express their feelings, ideas and personalities on a stage.
Israeli ‘BatSheva’ dance ensemble have earned their invitations to the best stages Europe,
Not only are they highly acclaimed and have received great reviews, a quick glance on their website shows the ensemble to be truly multi-cultural with dancers from all over the world and, more relevantly a site in Hebrew, English and Arabic.

Meanwhile, the anti-Israel BDSers, protesters outside the theaters. they too use their “freedom of speech” And that is not necessarily a bad thing in itself.
I personally don’t agree with them but I do respect their right to be heard.

Will BDS protesters violently-destroy this upcoming BatSheva tour to Europe?

The Arab-Israeli conflict is anything but simple and what makes it more difficult to resolve is its portrayal in extremes of black and white. This polarization has led these protesters to dismiss their non-violent mantra, adding violence, hate, fear and intimidation to their arguments.

The line between legitimate non-violent protesting and vandalizing might not be so easy to nail down but there is one line that is very clear: the theater door.

The BDS protesters have crossed that threshold many times, bringing what might have been a legitimate protest inside, physically hijacking the hall for their protest.

The protesters-turned-vandals disrupt the shows repeatedly and are not arrested or even forcibly withdrawn from the hall leaving audience members “alarmed and vulnerable”.
They vandalize the rights of the BatSheva group members and their audience to enjoy an evening of art and culture, regardless of political or religious motives of people living thousands of miles away.
They search for a media spotlight, kidnapping the moment and the attention of the audience who definitely did not buy tickets to see these protesters’ “dance”.

It is therefore up to the theaters themselves to stand up to and stand by the reason they exist: the performance of art by artists to art lovers. They should have staff members to escort the “bullies” away to be fined the night’s tickets for ruining their evening.

Here is the International Schedule for BatSheva’s upcoming shows

By now, we are all used to the creative lies spread by BDS leaders and other anti Israel activists. However, it seems that their students (the followers) have taken hate and lies one step further, a step too far.

While tweeting away this morning I was astounded to come across a dreadful hate-inciting Hash Tag #FuckIsrael.
I must say I’ve never seen this one before, Most of these #FuckIsrael tweets also include our friend’s Hash tag- #BDS.This repetitive phenomena shows that there is a direct connection between the twitterers of both Hash tags. It is important to note however, that from a quick look I could see that none of the BDS leaders use this new Hash tag, rather it seems to be their “creative” followers. A classy – students have surpassed their masters case.

Good neighborly

Funny…

Naturally, I also had a look for the heartwarming term ‘Fuck Israel’ on Facebook. The main FB page that turned up had nearly 27,000 likes! hardly a radical minority…

The pictures, posts and statuses on this page are disgusting to say the least and are profoundly antisemitic.

Like it Pleaseeeee!

Both on Twitter and Facebook the writers take part in cyber bullying; they hack websites, mass report users, spread hate and racial comments. And on top of this all they call for their actions to be “shared”, “liked” and “retweeted”.

RT racist Tweets

The repetitive direct connection between the Hash tags #BDS and #FuckIsrael undeniably shows that BDS activists are totally against Israel rather than pro Palestinian. I could not find any posts in which the words (or #) WeLovePalestine (Nor #PeaceInTheMiddleEast).

Indeed, A supreme education. BDS leader should be proud….

There are probably many different reasons for the Guardian’s seemingly odd decision to hire member of Act for Israel Joshua Treviño to their US commentary team.
I don’t presume to fully understand the British paper’s decision, what really makes me sneak a smile is Ali Abunimah’s disproportionate response to this decision, which included an article published on Al-Jazeera and FOUR different posts published on his own website- Electronic Intifada.

A question to Abunimah has to be asked though; How come he didn’t resent the Guardian hiring his good pal and fellow BDSer – Ben White?
Abunimah keeps sticking to the claim that Treviño has endorsed the IDF to kill American soldiers over his Twitter account more than a year ago, and that’s what makes him unfit to write for th Guardian.
Let’s assume for a second that it is a genuine call for action and not a merely rhetoric remark. Anyhow, Abunimah consistently ignores White’s one sided, self-righteous and sometimes racist news feed, and shows no objection to him being occupied (LOL I said occupied!) by the Guardian.  And this is without even going into Abunimah’s very radical Twitter Feed itself or his VERY racist fans like the on who made this:

“courtesy of”: Mantiq Al Tayr

An open letter signed by Sarah Colborne, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, saying: “his (Treviño) one-sided political views to the Guardian and using it as a platform for his propaganda” fits perfectly with AbuNimah’s double standard– Are they seriously saying the Guardian’s other writers  aren’t entitled to have opinions, strong and radical ones, of their own – Unless they are anti Israeli and anti Zionist opinions?
